We finished our string art project! This is quite an accomplishment considering we started working on this a year and a half ago. It sat around a lot without being worked on. But it's finally done, and we even hung it up!
How did we do it? We found a font we liked and printed out our name really huge so that it took several sheets of paper. We taped all the pieces together so the name was lined up, and we cut it out. The name was taped to this canvas, which we had hot glued to large piece of cork board. Then we began inserting pins around the boarder of the name, using various tools to protect our fingers from those vicious pin heads (we finally settled on needle nose pliers). Inserting the pins took the bulk of the time; there are nearly a thousand pins on it! Then we removed the paper pattern and strung embroidery floss around the pins, layering different colors to create the gradient. The string only took a few hours to do. It feels so good to have it finished!
Goodbye, boring dining area! Hello, string art!
