Four Months

Oh, man! Natalie is growing and changing so fast! We took her to the pediatrician today, and she said they look for a two pound gain between months two and four. Natalie gained 4 lbs. 4 oz.! She is a champ! We're so excited for warmer weather so we can see and pinch those adorable, chubby legs more often!

STATS
Length: 26" (94%)
Weight: 17 lbs. 4 oz. (92%)
Head: 16.25" (64%)
  • She has added squeals and shrieks to her repertoire of happy noises.
  • She can grab toys really well now, and anything she can get her hands on will go in her mouth. This includes my arm (turkey leg style) and my hair.
  • She loves to be outside. It usually calms her down just to sit with me out on our back step.
  • At about 3 1/2 months she started sleeping through the night! I can't take much credit - I wasn't doing anything beyond our normal bedtime routine. She just did it and kept doing it. We sure got lucky.
  • She loves hearing stories, particularly stories that rhyme. Her current favorite is Horton Hatches the Egg by Dr. Seuss. She has started actually listening to the stories, too. At bedtime she even turns to she can see the pages of the stories, and she touches them with her hands. She's got her daddy's love of reading!
  • She is very interested in sitting up on her own. When she's sitting up, she tries to get to anything she can see. She's strong enough to control her forward and backward leaning, but her side to side balance needs work.
  • She is completely uninterested in rolling over. When she's laying on her back, she is completely content with chewing on her hands and kicking her legs. She'll play with a toy if I give it to her, but if I set it on the floor, she loses all interest. When she's laying on her tummy, she just squawks at me with increasing anger until I turn her over.
  • Her new favorite pastime is blowing spit bubbles. Sometimes they are pretty impressive. I've seen her blow one the size of a fifty cent piece. ;)
  • She also likes to watch TV, particularly morning cartoons with Daddy. I don't usually watch any during the day because she'll stop everything to watch it, that includes playing and even eating.
  • Whenever she wears a dress or shirt that doesn't snap around her bum, those clothes spend a lot of time being pulled up into her mouth.
  • She is starting to enjoy peek-a-boo.
  • She is easily startled and scared by loud noises. The garbage disposal has scared her to tears as has the yogurt machine at a frozen yogurt shop.
  • Her eyes are very sensitive to the sunlight, just like her daddy's. Sometimes she'll have tears running down her face after she has been turned toward the sun for less than a minute. She squints her eyes closed and turns her head. No signs of photosensitive sneezing yet - I thought she'd get that gene from me for sure!
  • Speaking of sneezing, Natalie likes to sneeze. She always smiles after her sneezes. It's adorable.
  • Grandma and Grandpa Adams came for a visit this month, and Natalie had a lot of fun with them! Unfortunately, that was just before she started sleeping through the night. Sorry, Grandma and Grandpa!
  • She's wearing 6 month clothes, and some of those won't fit for long. She can actually wear a few 9 month things, although the legs are a little long.

Natalie loves singing with Grandma Adams

    Peas or porridge, anyone?

    Aaaaaah!

    Free hugs

She is so happy after her naps!

Expelliarmus! Natalie's wizard training is really coming along. Can you see the green glow of her magic?

"Why can't I get these toys into my mouth?"

"What is this? Hair? I'm unfamiliar. Do I eat it?"

    Matchy matchy

    Happy Easter!

Bad photography, but look how enthralled she is in Dad's cartoons. Haha!

I have some videos that I haven't gotten uploaded yet, so those will come in another post soon. We just love our little chubster!
